Passen Law Group regularly represents victims of crime, such as sexual abuse, in civil actions against the perpetrators or entities whose negligence made the crime possible. Often, crime victims are unaware that they may be able to pursue a civil cause of action against those individuals and corporations responsible.
Therefore, in November Stephen Passen and Matthew Passen recently presented to a group of approximately 130 “victim advocates” working in law enforcement, prosecutors offices, and crime victim organizations to train them on the topic of “Civil Remedies for Victims of Crime in Illinois.”
The program was organized by The National Center for Victims of Crime, a nonprofit organization that advocates for victims’ rights and trains professionals who work with victims. Passen Law Group made the event possible through its sponsorship of the program.
“Victim advocates provide an incredible service to crime victims. However, they often have never been trained on the availability of civil remedies for crime victims. We are proud to have made this training possible, as we regularly represent crime victims in civil actions against those responsible,” said Stephen Passen, founding partner of Passen Law Group.
